JJ has been an animator and artist since old enough to hold a pencil. Throughout his childhood, he created incredible stories both drawn and written that were years ahead than his young age would suggest possible. A child prodigy by age 12, he began to work in more professional circles as a young teen and started doing work for local advertisers and artists in Spain.
By his early 20's he had formed a network of fellow artists into his first company, StudioGenesis Projects, an advertising company for commercial and industrial art and design. After quickly cornering the market with innovative and provocative campaigns the company was purchased by a much larger competitor.
He then began working for one of the most renowned advertising firms in Spain, Barnatoon Studios. After a few years being responsible for the art direction of numerous high-profile campaigns JJ decided it was time to start more challenging projects and endeavors. This would lead him to travel to America and enroll in the New York Film Academy's directorship program.
Since then, he has written and directed a handful of films that showcase his talents and project the essence of his future success as clearly as the lights from the projector.

It's been 20 years since I decided what I wanted to be, a storyteller. I remember it perfectly. I was there, sitting in the dark of a movie theater watching an amazing future reflected in the gigantic eye on screen. I still remember the dreams I had that night. Since then, I realized how powerful the skill to make people dream is. I think it's the most powerful thing you can do. Because dreams inspire people and inspired people change the world. People like Hitchcock, Ford, Kurosawa, Murnau, Antonioni, Fellini, Buñuel, Kubrick, Coppola, Scorsese…all of them bring storytelling and filmmaking to the level of art. They not only tell great stories, they allow the audience to live their movies.
To become a good storyteller I followed the natural steps. Since I was young, I utilized my drawing skills and used comic-books to tell my stories. This world is where I was introduced to the work of Will Eisner and others. As I got older I had a fast incursion into more formal animation and following in the steps of another personal inspiration, Tim Burton, I simply got a camera and started to learn how to use it. That was the first step into a completely different dimension for me.
But being so very far from the bright lights of Hollywood, I found other heroes that inspired me even more. Artists like Carpenter, Corman, Romero, Raimi…they were making these amazing, crazy and inventive movies with very low budgets but a lot of imagination. They were outrageous and completely mad. I decided that was a nice path to follow. They introduced me to the fantastic genre. They showed me how the most fantastic stories can grow from your own dreams.
I’m still learning and maybe one day…I will find the way to make other people dream.
